The MLP took over the case of NS (Saeedi), from the Immigration Advisory Service after its closure. The case was heard in the Court of Justice of the European Union and judgment was given in December 2011. This case concerns whether asylum seekers can be deported to other EU countries if there is a risk of torture, or inhumane and degrading treatment in those countries. The judgement was positive, and holds that the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights is binding upon the UK. We will keep you up to date on any developments arising from the case.
